Hello, I’m Eileen Savage, a professional coach and an accredited Strengths practitioner who works with PhD scholars, early career researchers and academics.

As a professional coach combined with over 25 years of academic experience, I bring a depth of insights into understanding the challenges faced by academics, PhD scholars, and early career researchers, as well as strategies that yield positive results for them in addressing these challenges to move forward.

I am passionate about helping individuals excel in their lives by realising their potential and achieving their aspirations, no matter how big or small. Through my coaching and facilitation, individuals are enabled and empowered to:

  • Shift from ‘impossible’ to ‘possible’ and ‘can’t do’ to ‘can do’ mindsets
  • Get unstuck and moving again
  • Believe in themselves and what they can achieve
  • Walk the extra mile out of their comfort zones towards a desired future
  • Celebrate successes, no matter how big or small

My Philosophy as a Coach

My philosophy which shapes my approach to coaching and facilitation is based on the belief that each individual is unique and has the capacity to excel through self-discovery, growth and transformation towards achieving future-oriented goals and aspirations in their lives. Each individual is naturally creative, resourceful and whole to be the best they can be and to continuously excel beyond a previous version of themselves. Therefore, each individual becomes the creator of his/her own destiny and fulfilment  through choice, by finding the right pathway there.

It’s very difficult to succeed if you don’t excel.

My Experiences

Prior to my coaching career, I worked in academia progressing from lecturer to professor with a range of experiences including research, PhD supervision, and Vice Dean of Graduate Studies. I have mentored many academics including aspiring academic woman leaders through the Aurora programme offered in the higher education sector through Advance HE, UK. I have experience as an assessor on academic promotion boards including promotions in universities in Ireland, UK, Canada and Malaysia. I have been a visiting professor in Indonesia and Brunei.

Prior to my academic career, I worked in the health services as a nurse both in Ireland and the UK. My experience as a nurse along with my own personal life experiences has equipped me to understand life’s challenges and vulnerabilities and what it means to make a difference in people’s lives.

My diverse experiences enrich my practice as a coach, enabling people to move beyond any challenges they are faced with in their lives in ways that acknowledge the ‘whole’ person, their values, and aspirations.

I am always excited to see individuals realise their potential by excelling to being the best version of themselves and achieving their aspirations.
